Ter gelegenheid van het jubileumjaar van Marjolein Bastin (1943) organiseert het Noord-Veluws Museum een grote tentoonstelling van haar originele aquarellen. Marjolein Bastin wordt haar hele leven al gegrepen door de schoonheid van de natuur. Zij brengt met haar schitterende tekeningen al meer dan veertig jaar de natuur dichtbij de mensen, onder andere via haar vaste rubriek in het weekblad Libelle.
In haar jeugd raakte Marjolein Bastin geïnspireerd door de boeken van natuurbeschermer Jac. P. Thijsse en de Verkade-albumplaatjes. Na de kunstacademie in Arnhem heeft Marjolein Bastin zich toegelegd op illustreren. Geen kunstenaar ging in de jaren zestig naturalistisch tekenen en aquarelleren, maar dat was precies wat Marjolein Bastin wilde: “omdat ik de drang voelde om datgene waar ik zo verrukt van was, niet weg te laten glippen.” Haar liefdevolle observaties van de natuur weet zij zorgvuldig vast te leggen in kleurrijke voorstellingen. Vogel, grasspriet, torretje of boomstam, alles krijgt dezelfde aandacht.
Met de Veluwe heeft zij een speciale band. Ze woont al bijna haar hele leven op de Veluwe, waar ze haar inspiratie vandaan haalt. “Ik voel me hier erg thuis. Het is een rijk gebied waar je van alles kunt zien, ruiken, voelen en meemaken.”
Hoewel Bastins werk internationaal bekend is geworden, zijn de originele aquarellen zelden te zien. Het Noord-Veluws Museum biedt dit najaar de unieke gelegenheid om ruim 120 originele werken van dichtbij te bewonderen. In de tentoonstelling zal er veel nieuw werk van haar hand te zien zijn. Behalve tekeningen zijn ook authentieke spulletjes van de kunstenares te zien, zoals een vogelnestje met eitjes, haar tekenmaterialen en oude (natuur)boekjes van Jac. P. Thijsse.
Vera de Muis
Voor kinderen is de tentoonstelling een aanrader, want Vera de Muis, een populaire creatie van Marjolein Bastin, is ook te zien in het museum! Bij het Vera de Muishuis hangen meer dan 20 originele Vera de Muistekeningen, die Bastin voor de vele kinderboeken maakte. Je kunt ook zelf gaan tekenen of de speciale Vera de Muiskleurplaten kleuren!
Lezing Nico de Haan
Op donderdag 21 februari 2019 om 20.00 uur (uitverkocht) en dinsdag 12 maart (nog plaatsen beschikbaar) geeft vogelkenner en vogelbeschermer Nico de Haan een lezing over vogels in het Noord-Veluws Museum.
